Gosforth WI

Where we meet:

Public Hall, Gosforth

When we meet:

1st Tuesday of the month at 7.15pm, except January when we meet at 2.00 pm.

About Us:

We are in our 92nd year and currently have 55 members who enjoy the many activities in which we participate such as walks, trips to theatrical productions etc, outings to places of interest, morning coffee at a local coffee shop, lunch or dinner at a local hostelry, as well as fundraising efforts such as raffles, bric-a-brac/plant/bring-and-buy stalls, jumble sales.

Volunteers (Wallflowers) work on a rota, to keep tidy the plants on the decorative wall in front of the Public Hall, during the summer months.  We also put flowers on the War Memorial in May.

The committee consists of ten to twelve members and meets on the last Tuesday of the month, at a committee member's house.  They look after the general organisation of the WI and have particular tasks to spread the load.  The officers are:
President :Sarah Millard
Vice Presidents : Rosemary Sheppard and Ann McKenzie
Secretary : Beneta Livesey
Treasurer : Rosemary Sheppard

As well as our annual programme we produce an Information Leaflet for Members which gives useful information to those who are less familiar with WI procedures.

Gosforth WI belongs to the Esk Group and group meetings are held twice a year.
