1st Wednesday of the month at 7.30pm
About Us:
There are currently 40 members. A varied programme of talks, demonstrations and educational outings are organised each year and there has been a Walking Group established this year which meets fortnightly.
Every two years the W.I is responsible for writing, producing, acting and taking part in many ways in a village Pantomime. This began 20 years ago as a W.I. members' Pantomime and has grown to include over 100 adults and children from the neighbouring villages.
There is a playreading group which meets once a month at members' homes
The W.I takes part every two years in the County Federation Spoken Word competition and 4 years ago were successful in winning the Silver Salver Prize for best overall performance.
Langwathby & Edenhall took 4th place in the National WI Triathlon 2010. All members took part in either swimming, walking or cycling; the oldest member being 93 and the youngest 31.
Langwathby and Edenhall W.I. is a member of the Hartside & Pennine Group which includes – Gamblesby, Lazonby, Melmerby and Penrith. The Institute is active in raising money to support local charities such as The Memo, the Village Hall, and Hospice at Home and each year gives a gift at Christmas to everyone over the age of 70 years living in both villages.
