About Us:
Thursby WI was formed in 1948. There are 22 members who are friendly and outgoing, and, although mostly mature in age, enjoy life to the full.
2009 PROGRAMME

The Community Bus will pick up at The Green at 6.00pm. |
| February | Mrs. Audrey Dorman will be showing us a video and
slides on 'Well Dressing in Derbyshire'. Competition - A China Teaplate - don't forget your Flower of the Month too! |
| March | Guest Evening with Philomena Morley, who will talk about
her country, Ghana, it's national dress etc., and will also
do some
traditional cooking. A finger buffet will be served. Competition - a Jelly Mould. |
| April | Our Birthday Tea - this year at Denton House. Minibus will leave The Green at 2.15pm. Our return journey will take a scenic route round the edge of the Lake District. Don't miss it! |
| May | A.G.M. Some interesting matters to be discussed. Why not stand for the Committee this year - new ideas are always welcomed. Competition - Tea Caddy Spoon. |
| June | A visit from Mrs. Mary Lawson of The Embroiders' Guild. Bring a Lace Handkerchief for the Competition |
| July | Mr. Snart of Willowbog Bonsai will be showing us how to create those
enchanting little Japanese trees. Competition - a small 9" houseplant. |
| August | Mr. Gordon Routledge will talk about Gretna's Secret War - something on our doorstep which we probably didn't appreciate. Competition - a Medal |
| September | An evening for the sweet-toothed! A Sugarcraft demonstration by
Mrs. Marjorie Corrie. Competition - a Cake Stand. |
| October | .......... And one for the Thespians amongst us - 20th century Dramatists.
Mr. Francis Bulman will be the Speaker. Competition - Your only book on a desert island. |
| November | A talk on Sarah Losh given by Mr. Steve Matthews of Bookends. Competition - a Wooden Carving. |
| December | Members' Night. Start thinking now about YOUR party piece!
